Descrição
BN870M 5.7" x 10" Magnetic Embroidery Hoop for Bernina
Secure fabric quickly with flexible, individually positioned round magnets.
The BN870M is a metal magnetic embroidery hoop designed for select Bernina embroidery machines. It includes 12 removable round magnets, allowing the magnet layout to be adjusted according to the shape, thickness and structure of each embroidery project.
The separate round magnets are especially useful for positioning fabric around seams, pockets, straps, curves and other uneven areas. When one section needs adjustment, only the nearest magnet needs to be removed.

Why Choose the BN870M?
Flexible Round Magnet Placement
All 12 magnets can be positioned individually around the metal base frame.
You can place more magnets near areas that need additional support, leave space around raised sections or change the layout for different project shapes.
Ideal for Irregular Items
The round magnets are particularly helpful for:
- Baby bibs
- Bags
- Pockets
- Curved fabric pieces
- Items with straps
- Raised seams
- Zippers
- Small or uneven fabric sections
Easy Fabric Repositioning
Lift one magnet, adjust the related fabric section and replace the magnet. The remaining magnets continue holding the rest of the project in place.
No Tightening Screw
The fabric and stabilizer are secured magnetically, so there is no hoop screw to tighten and no rigid upper frame to force into position.
Helps Reduce Hoop Impressions
The magnetic system can help reduce fabric compression and visible hoop marks compared with conventional two-piece hoops.
Soft-Coated Metal Frame
The soft-coated metal base helps improve fabric grip, reduce sliding and protect the material from direct contact with the metal surface.

FAQ
1. What is the main advantage of the 12 round magnets?
The round magnets can be positioned individually according to the project shape.
You can place more magnets where additional support is required, avoid raised seams or pockets, and adjust one fabric section without releasing the entire project.
2. What is the difference between BN870M and BN870MK?
Both hoops have the same 5.7" x 10" embroidery area and are compatible with the same listed Bernina machines.
The difference is the magnet configuration:
- BN870M: 12 round magnets for flexible and targeted placement.
- BN870MK: 4 long and 8 short bar magnets for wider edge coverage.
Choose BN870M for curved, uneven or irregular items. Choose BN870MK when broad support along regular fabric edges is preferred.
3. How does it differ from a traditional screw hoop?
A traditional hoop clamps fabric between two rigid frames.
The BN870M holds the stabilizer and fabric against a metal base using removable magnets. This makes it easier to adjust one section without completely removing and re-hooping the fabric.
4. Is it suitable for baby bibs and irregularly shaped projects?
Yes. The individual round magnets can be arranged around straps, curved edges, seams and thicker areas.
Loose straps and excess fabric must be secured away from the needle and moving embroidery carriage.
5. Can the round magnets be placed anywhere?
They can be placed flexibly on suitable areas of the metal base frame, but they must remain outside:
- The embroidery design
- The needle path
- The presser-foot path
- The moving carriage area
Use the machine’s embroidery-area check every time the magnet layout changes.
6. What is the maximum material thickness?
The magnets can commonly hold fabric and stabilizer combinations around 2–3 mm thick.
This is only a general reference. Actual holding strength depends on fabric density, stabilizer, raised seams and magnet spacing.
Test the material before beginning the final embroidery.
7. Is it suitable for towels, denim and quilts?
Yes. It can be used for towels, denim, sweatshirts, quilt sandwiches and many other common embroidery materials.
For thick or layered materials, position the magnets evenly and confirm that each magnet sits flat against the frame.
8. Can I embroider a design larger than the hoop area?
A design larger than 5.7" x 10" must be divided into multiple properly aligned sections.
The round magnets make repositioning easier, but accurate registration marks and suitable embroidery software are still needed.
Never stitch outside the embroidery area supported by the machine.
9. How do I position a corner design on a napkin or handkerchief?
Use the grid template to align the fabric edge or corner.
Mark the design center, place the fabric on the frame and add the magnets gradually. Make small adjustments one magnet at a time, then verify the final position with the machine’s layout or tracing function.
10. What should I do if the machine does not detect the hoop?
Check that the attachment bracket is fully connected to the embroidery module.
If the machine does not automatically identify the frame:
- Remove and reinstall it.
- Restart the machine if needed.
- Select an appropriate supported hoop size or embroidery area.
- Follow the machine manual for custom or third-party hoop setup.
- Trace the design boundary before stitching.
Do not assume that every compatible model will automatically recognize a third-party frame.
11. Is this a worthwhile hoop for frequent embroidery work?
It can be useful for users who regularly embroider towels, garments, bibs, quilt blocks or personalized products.
The flexible magnets may reduce setup and adjustment time, especially when working with uneven or hard-to-hoop items.
12. Do I also need a smaller magnetic hoop?
The ideal hoop size usually depends on the embroidery design.
A smaller hoop may provide better support for small designs because the fabric is held closer to the stitching area. The BN870M is better suited to medium and larger designs that require its available area.
13. How should the magnets be cleaned?
Remove lint and loose thread with a soft brush, lint roller or compressed air.
Use a soft, slightly damp cloth for surface cleaning and dry the magnets completely. Do not use sharp metal tools or soak the magnets.
14. How should I store the hoop and round magnets?
Store the frame flat in a dry indoor location.
Keep the magnets attached to the frame or safely separated so they cannot snap together. Protect them from moisture, excessive heat and strong impact.
