Description
Hoop small and medium embroidery designs faster with a compact metal magnetic frame.
The BN871MK uses 8 removable short bar magnets to secure fabric and stabilizer against a solid metal base. The rectangular magnet shape provides wider contact along the fabric edges while still allowing each section to be adjusted individually.
There are no tightening screws and no rigid one-piece upper hoop to press into place. Simply position the stabilizer and fabric, add the magnets and adjust individual sections as needed.

Why Choose the BN871MK?
Wider Edge Contact
The short bar magnets cover more fabric edge than small spot magnets, helping provide stable support around the compact embroidery area.
Fast, Screw-Free Hooping
Place the stabilizer and fabric over the metal frame, then secure them with the magnets. There is no screw to tighten and no inner hoop to force into position.
Adjust One Section at a Time
When the fabric needs a small correction, lift only the nearest magnet. The other magnets continue holding the rest of the project in place.
Ideal for Smaller Embroidery Projects
The 3.9" x 5.1" area is suitable for:
- Monograms
- Small logos
- Baby clothing
- Napkins and handkerchiefs
- Pockets
- Quilt blocks
- Towels
- Small personalized gifts
Helps Reduce Hoop Marks
The fabric is held magnetically instead of being tightly compressed between two rigid frames, which can help reduce visible pressure marks on delicate and textured materials.
Soft-Coated Metal Base
The metal frame features a soft flocked surface that helps improve fabric grip, reduce slipping and protect the material from direct contact with bare metal.

FAQ
1. How is this hoop different from a traditional embroidery hoop?
A traditional hoop clamps the fabric between two rigid frames and normally requires screw adjustment.
The BN871MK uses removable magnets to secure the fabric and stabilizer against a metal base. It is faster to set up and allows one section to be adjusted without completely re-hooping the project.
2. How does it compare with the DIME Snap Hoop Monster?
Both designs use a magnetic system and a metal base frame.
The main structural difference is that many Snap Hoop Monster models use a one-piece upper magnetic frame, while the BN871MK uses eight separate bar magnets. Individual magnets can be repositioned around seams or uneven sections without removing the complete upper frame.
The BN871MK metal base also has a soft flocked surface to help reduce fabric movement and protect the material.
3. How does it differ from fixed-position magnetic frames such as the Brother Hoopnetic Sash Frame?
Both designs use multiple magnets to hold fabric over a base frame.
On a fixed-position system, the magnets normally sit in predetermined locations. The BN871MK magnets can be placed separately on suitable areas of the metal frame, allowing the layout to be adjusted according to the fabric and design.
The Brother Hoopnetic frame is intended for compatible Brother machines, while the BN871MK is designed for the listed Bernina models.
4. Can it be used for a design larger than 3.9" x 5.1"?
A larger design must first be divided into accurately aligned sections using suitable embroidery software.
The removable magnets can make repositioning easier, but registration marks and careful alignment are still required. The frame does not increase the embroidery area supported by the machine.
5. Do I still need a larger magnetic hoop?
The best hoop size is usually close to the size of the embroidery design.
The BN871MK is well suited to smaller designs because the fabric is held close to the stitching area. Larger designs require an appropriately sized hoop. Keeping several hoop sizes also provides more magnets and greater flexibility for different projects.
6. Is it useful for a home embroidery business?
For users who repeatedly embroider logos, monograms, napkins, pockets or small personalized products, the magnetic frame can reduce setup and adjustment time.
It may also help reduce re-hooping and visible hoop marks, although final efficiency depends on the project and working method.
7. What should I do if my machine does not recognize the hoop?
Make sure the attachment bracket is fully connected to the embroidery module.
Then:
- Remove and reinstall the frame.
- Restart the machine if needed.
- Select an appropriate supported hoop size or embroidery area.
- Follow the machine manual for third-party or custom-frame operation.
- Trace the complete design boundary before stitching.
Do not begin embroidery until safe clearance has been confirmed.
8. Can I use it for baby bibs or other irregular items?
Yes. The separate magnets can be positioned around curved edges, straps, seams and uneven areas.
For a bib, the central area can be floated over suitable stabilizer while the straps remain outside the stitching area. Secure all loose material away from the needle and moving carriage.
9. What material thickness can the magnets hold?
As a general reference, many fabric and stabilizer combinations around 2–3 mm thick can be held securely.
Actual performance depends on material density, raised seams, stabilizer thickness and magnet placement. Test the setup before stitching a finished or valuable item.
10. Is a usage guide available?
Yes. A magnetic hoop guide can be provided or linked on the product page. It should cover fabric placement, magnet positioning, grid alignment, frame installation, embroidery-area checking and magnet safety.
Always follow the original Bernina machine manual for embroidery-module operation.
