Description

Secure smaller embroidery projects with eight individually positioned round magnets.

The BN871M combines a compact metal frame with 8 removable round magnets. Each magnet can be positioned separately, making it easy to add support where needed or leave space around seams, pockets, curves and thicker fabric sections.

The magnetic system eliminates hoop screws and allows local fabric adjustments without releasing the entire project.

Why Choose the BN871M?

Flexible Round Magnet Placement

Each of the eight magnets can be positioned separately according to the project shape and fabric structure.

Ideal for Irregular Items

The round magnets are useful when working around:

  • Raised seams
  • Curved fabric edges
  • Pockets
  • Straps
  • Zippers
  • Thick or layered areas
  • Small irregularly shaped pieces

Easy Local Repositioning

Lift only the magnet nearest the area that needs adjustment. The remaining magnets continue holding the rest of the fabric.

Compact Size for Small Designs

The 3.9" x 5.1" embroidery area is ideal for:

  • Small names and monograms
  • Chest logos
  • Baby garments
  • Napkins
  • Pockets
  • Quilt labels
  • Handkerchiefs
  • Small decorative designs

Helps Reduce Fabric Compression

Because the fabric is not clamped between a traditional inner and outer hoop, the magnetic design may help reduce stretching and visible hoop impressions.

Soft Flocked Metal Frame

The soft-coated metal base helps reduce fabric movement and protects the material from direct contact with the metal surface.

FAQ

1. What is the main advantage of the round magnets?

The eight round magnets can be arranged individually according to the fabric shape.

This provides targeted support and makes it easier to avoid raised seams, straps, pockets and other uneven areas.

2. What is the difference between BN871M and BN871MK?

Both models have the same 3.9" x 5.1" embroidery area and fit the same listed Bernina machines.

  • BN871M: 8 round magnets for flexible, targeted placement.
  • BN871MK: 8 short bar magnets for wider contact along fabric edges.

Choose BN871M for curved or irregular projects. Choose BN871MK when broader edge coverage is preferred.

3. How does it compare with a traditional screw hoop?

A conventional hoop presses fabric between two rigid frames and normally requires tension adjustment with a screw.

The BN871M uses removable magnets on a metal base. It is easier to reposition one section without removing and re-hooping the complete project.

4. How does it compare with the DIME Snap Hoop Monster?

Both products use magnetic force and a metal base to hold the project.

Many Snap Hoop Monster models use a complete upper magnetic frame. The BN871M uses eight separate round magnets, allowing each magnet to be positioned or removed independently.

This can be more convenient around curved edges and uneven fabric sections.

5. How does it compare with fixed-position multi-magnet frames?

Both systems use several magnets rather than a traditional inner hoop.

The difference is that the BN871M magnets are not limited to permanently fixed positions. They can be arranged on suitable parts of the metal base according to the project, while remaining outside the needle path.

6. Can I embroider a design larger than the hoop?

Only after the design has been properly divided into multiple registered sections.

The removable magnets can simplify fabric repositioning, but accurate alignment marks and suitable software are still necessary. Never stitch outside the machine’s supported embroidery boundary.

7. Is this smaller hoop useful if I already own a large hoop?

Yes. A smaller frame holds the fabric closer to a small embroidery design, which may improve support in the center and reduce unnecessary fabric movement.

A large hoop is better for large designs, while the BN871M is more efficient for logos, monograms and other compact projects.

8. Is it suitable for frequent or small-business embroidery?

It can be useful for repeated small designs such as names, chest logos, napkins, pockets and baby garments.

The screw-free setup and local magnet adjustment may reduce hooping time, especially when several similar items are being produced.

9. What should I do if the Bernina machine shows an error or does not recognize the frame?

Check that the frame is fully connected to the embroidery module.

Remove and reinstall it, restart the machine if required, and manually select an appropriate supported hoop size or embroidery area. Consult the machine manual for third-party frame procedures.

Always trace the design boundary before stitching.

10. How should I hoop a baby bib or another uneven item?

Place the bib over an appropriate stabilizer and secure the central embroidery area with the round magnets.

Allow straps and curved edges to remain outside the active stitching area. Add magnets near the flat sections without placing them over thick seams.

Secure all loose material so it cannot enter the needle or carriage path.

11. What is the recommended maximum material thickness?

Many fabric and stabilizer combinations around 2–3 mm thick can be used as a general reference.

Holding performance varies according to material density, seam thickness and magnet spacing. Confirm that every magnet sits flat and test the setup before starting the final project.

12. Is an instruction manual available?

Yes. A downloadable magnetic hoop guide can be added to the product page, covering grid alignment, fabric placement, magnet arrangement, frame installation and safety.

Customers should also follow the Bernina machine manual for embroidery-module and hoop-area settings.
